About

Hi, nosy! Hi, internet lurker!

You want to know about me so bad you’re going to read all of these words? Weird, but okay fine.

Ellwood Studio is a micro studio ultimately born out of the need to quiet my brain. Sometimes it’s a little too loud in there! Thankfully, I’ve always been able to accomplish that by having (multiple) creative hobbies.

In 2024, I picked up my 70th hobby of the year - hand-painted picture frames. I wanted to add some color and personality to the prints and frames in my home. As a bonus, this scratched the creative itch in my brain, as well as tested my patience because it’s very much a trust the process activity. Isn’t it (life) all about balance? Anyway.

I started painting some for friends and then cultivated quite a collection. As much as I wanted to keep them all, I figured I’d put them out into the world and see what happens.

It still remains a micro, one-person studio, but has grown from a hobby to a small business. Every frame is painted by hand and no two are exactly alike. I’m very big on everything being simple and some things being imperfect, which as we know, is where personality and authenticity come from. My only guiding light is that if I’m going to sell it, I have to want it in my own home.

Thanks for being nosy and for being here. Let’s see where this goes :)
